The development, planned for the corner of Cleveland and Baptist streets, will feature a double-storey retail outlet, commercial space, a huge public park and 154 apartments. The storefront of the original heritage-listed Bank of NSW, built in 1867, will be restored.
The first stage of the development will feature 55 apartments in different configurations. These include 10 one-bedroom apartments, 11 one-bedroom apartments with study, 16 two-bedrooms, 10 two-bedroom with study, four three-bedrooms and four three-bedroom penthouses. The average floor space of the one-bedroom apartments is 65sqm (57sqm internal and 8sqm external), the two-bedrooms is 103sqm (88sqm internal and 15sqm external) and the tree-bedroom is 147sqm (127 sqm internal and 20sqm external).
Prices for the one-bedroom apartments start from $960,000, the two-bedroom from $1,900,000 and the three-bedroom apartments from $2,700,000.
The development is a collaborative effort between developer Toga, architects SJB and Studio Prineas, landscape architects Aspect Studios and interior designers BKH Interiors. BKH Interiors director Iain Halliday said all involved have worked to create subtle, luxurious layers of texture and colour, and this can best be seen in the Venetian-style terrazzo and the Corian and Marblo surfaces that sculpt and bounce light.
“Our vision is to preserve the rich cultural, urban and historical identity of this area and capture it through our two interior schemes,” he said. “We’ve put a lot of thought in to crafting beautiful rooms with beautiful proportions. Spaces that are sure-footed, elegant and transporting, and that sit comfortably within an area noted for its culture, visual arts, history and style.”
